When the unexpected happens
Controversy about Massimo's game continues to rumble (read the comments following his game report). The issue is really about what should have happened after Tom accidentally knocked his unopened box to the floor, thereby revealing the number inside. Endemol treated the matter very seriously and I feel they did their best to find a fair solution so that the game could continue - the problem really seems to be Massimo's reacton to tbe event, his demeanor changed completely. Immediately before the box fell he was laughing and cheering, he had gone across the studio floor to kiss Emma - from the moment the game resumed until the end he looked flustered and subdued.
To me it is how one behaves in the face of the unexpected that differentiates between those who are successful and those who fail...in life. Many people try to regulate their lives so that they feel in control - any change to the routine leaves them confused, and often angry. I feel at once sorry for, and frustrated by, such people - it is the unexpected that makes life interesting - they should rejoice in the change, they should actively seek it out.
My point is that if you are able to create a predictable lifestyle then you are not really living at all, and it leaves you useless when the unpredictable happens, as it inevitably does.
