Its nice to be nice
This is just a quick rant as I try to catch the thought between meetings.
I can't think of another game or reality TV show which takes a group of strangers and gets them to work together for the benefit of one of them. I think the attitudes shown on DOND are constantly under threat in our society. In Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy, the sorely missed Douglas Adams wrote :
“... nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change...”
Maybe DOND is the start of a revolution, the nice guy finishing first - beautiful women falling for good guys....world peace anyone?

On a vaguely similar theme, during my recent trip to the US, there were trailers for a new TV game show called UNANIMOUS, the basic concept of which was that 10 (maybe 12) players are locked in a room with no contact with the outside world. There is $1 million to be won by one of the players, the only snag being that all the players have to decide who wins it (and you're ahead of me here) UNANIMOUSLY! Oh yes, just one more thing, the prize money decreases all the time they're in there... to be honest it looked more like a bloodbath than "work(ing) together for the benefit of one of them", but that's life I guess...
